Barcelona és una destinació compromesa amb l’organització d’esdeveniments responsables, amb una clara aposta per la sostenibilitat i la generació de llegat.
Creiem que els esdeveniments no només són espais d’innovació, intercanvi de coneixement o negoci, sinó que també poden contribuir positivament al medi ambient i actuar com a catalitzadors del canvi, tant a nivell internacional com dins de la comunitat local. En aquest context, des del Barcelona Convention Bureau oferim eines, recomanacions i bones pràctiques que ajuden als organitzadors a integrar criteris ambientals, socials i culturals en els seus esdeveniments, maximitzant-ne l’impacte positiu. Treballem perquè cada congrés, trobada o conferència pugui deixar un impacte tangible que beneficiï tant la ciutat com els seus habitants.

Choosing a destination to host our congress for nearly 5,000 delegates from across Europe and beyond can be a daunting task—especially in a city we had not visited before. From the very beginning of our RFP process, we were warmly welcomed, expertly guided, and continuously supported by the team at the BCB. ESGE Days 2025 proved to be an outstanding success, setting a new benchmark for our future events. This achievement was made possible through the professionalism and highly collaborative spirit of both the BCB and our host venue, the CCIB. We are particularly proud to have launched our pilot legacy project promoting colorectal cancer screening in the Catalan region, giving us the opportunity to give back to the community through a range of meaningful activities. The encouragement and organizational support provided by the BCB Legacy Program were instrumental in bringing this initiative to life and connecting us to the key stakeholders. On behalf of everyone at ESGE, we extend our heartfelt thanks.
Des de l’Associació Contra el Càncer a Barcelona valorem molt positivament la col·laboració amb el Barcelona Convention Bureau en els seus projectes de Llegat. Tant amb l’ESGE Days 2025 com amb el Congrés Mundial de Càncer de Pulmó (WCLC 2025) hem desenvolupat iniciatives d’impacte real per a la comunitat local: accions informatives als mercats, tallers amb població en situació de vulnerabilitat, activitats educatives a instituts i espais de divulgació científica durant els congressos. Aquest treball conjunt ha permès apropar la prevenció i els cribratges a la ciutadania i transformar la presència de grans congressos a Barcelona en una oportunitat tangible de millora de la salut pública. Per a nosaltres, el Programa de Llegat del BCB és un model de col·laboració exemplar entre el món científic internacional i les necessitats reals de la comunitat
ECTRIMS organises the Patient Community Day following its annual scientific congress. This event was conceived with a strong legacy ambition and two main objectives: to present the latest scientific advances in multiple sclerosis research in clear and accessible language, making cutting-edge knowledge understandable for patients, and to create a unique opportunity for dialogue between patients and leading international experts in the field. Because of this ambition, ECTRIMS has high expectations when it comes to the commitment of host destinations to support the legacy dimension of the project. From the very first conversations, the Barcelona Convention Bureau demonstrated a strong willingness to support and amplify the impact of our programme, mobilising a dedicated team capable of engaging quickly, understanding the complexity of our mission and recognising the broader societal implications of the initiative. The Barcelona CVB helped build bridges with local organisations and national networks, and the team proved to be proactive, creative, persistent and deeply committed. More importantly, they demonstrated that the city genuinely understands the societal importance of scientific communities and the vital role they play. Barcelona has clearly demonstrated that, beyond being a beautiful and well-equipped destination for international metings, it is also a city that does not rest on its achievements and continues to actively support initiatives that create real societal impact.
A Fira de Barcelona tenim un ferm compromís amb la sostenibilitat, plenament integrada a la nostra estratègia i alineada amb els Objectius de Desenvolupament Sostenible (ODS). Treballem per minimitzar la petjada ambiental de la nostra activitat promovent esdeveniments cada cop més responsables i impulsant l’eficiència energètica i hídrica, l’economia circular i la reducció de residus als nostres recintes. Conscients del nostre paper com a motor de progrés econòmic i social, desenvolupem iniciatives amb impacte positiu a la ciutat i al territori, en col·laboració amb entitats socials i institucions, contribuint així a la prosperitat present i futura. En el sector firal la sostenibilitat és clau per a la competitivitat i nosaltres volem posicionar-nos com a referent internacional en aquest àmbit.
